OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2009. President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has made changes to the presidential decree “On Control of Export of Nuclear Materials, Equipment and Technologies from the Russian Federation”.
President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has made changes to the presidential decree “On Control of Export of Nuclear Materials, Equipment and Technologies from the Russian Federation” issued on Mar 27 1992.
The changes stipulate that India should no longer be subject to the requirement saying that nuclear materials, equipment and technologies can be exported from Russia to any state having no nuclear weapons exclusively on condition that all nuclear activities of that state be placed under the guarantees of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
At the same time, the new decree specifies that nuclear materials, technologies, equipment and special non-nuclear materials can be exported from Russia to India for the purpose of their processing, use or production only provided that they are used by nuclear plants placed under IAEA’s guarantees.
