Russian NPPs Registered no Single Significant Incident since 2003
OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2009. No single significant incident has been registered at the Russian nuclear power plants since 2003, Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko said during a meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Just 33 insignificant events were registered at the plants in 2008.
Kiriyenko said that 20bln RUR will be allocated for the construction of the 4th unit of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (14bln RUR will be spent on the construction, 6bln RUR – on the purchase of necessary equipment). In 2010 the financing of the project will be redoubled.
