OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2009 was announced records on FORTS, RTS derivatives section.

By the end of the main trading session the total trading volume in futures contracts on FORTS reached USD2,914,449,408 (or 3,077,276 contracts).

The previous record was reported on June 2, 2009 when the volume of trading in futures contracts reached USD2,745,891,419 (or 3,312,015 contracts).

In this total a record trading volume in EUR/RUR futures contract was completed on the same day, totalling USD414,732,472 or 289 547 contracts.

This was substantially higher than the previous record, reported on April 15, 2009, of 257 856 contracts or over USD344 million  in money terms.

FORTS, the derivatives market of RTS, is the leading trading venue for futures and options in Russia. Trading on FORTS started in September 2001. At present FORTS has the widest range of instruments in Russia. These are 50 contracts (33 futures and 17 options) on shares of Russian companies, bonds, short term interest rates, currency, RTS Index, oil, silver, gas, sugar and gold.
