OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2009. The Ministry of Economy abolishes Order 36, providing compulsory certification of the each batch of the imported products. As it was informed in the ministry, this was announced by the vice-premier and the minister of economy Valeriu Lazar during the meeting with 30 importers and producers of the country. The decision to cancel Order 36 will come into force at the end of the week.

During the discussion it became clear that the positions of importers and producers as regards Order 36 are quite opposite. Thus, the first stand for abolition of the order, while the second-for preservation of the document. Order 36 on the consumer protection has been issued and applied by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in March 2009 in order to protect consumers and support the local producers.

Despite the disagreements, the parties agreed on the necessity of the development of the balanced system of certification and conformity assessment, to protect the consumers’ rights for the high quality products, support the local producers and eliminate the coercion against the importers of goods. According to the conclusion of the vice-premier, the minister of economy Valeriu Lazar, this order is not a solution for all the parties involved and thus it will be abolished.

The Minister of Economy also said that in the nearest future, one of the main priorities of the line ministries will be development of technical regulations for the imported and local products, which will regulate quality and safety of the named goods. In this regard, Valerie Lazar announced the establishment of a new department within the Ministry of Economy, which will develop industrial policy and competitiveness.
