Engineering Center UES Signed Contract for New Energy Complex Design
OREANDA-NEWS. December 2, 2009. Branch of JSC “EC UES” – “Institute Teploelectroproject”- will implement the functions of general designer for Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2 of OAO “OGK-3”. The respective contract was signed between “Engineering Center UES” and general contractor for construction – ZAO “Atomstroyexport”.
Specialists from branch of “EC UES” – “Institute Teploelectroproject” – will develop design documentation for three units of the energy complex “Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2” and working documentation for the first stage commissioning.
At this time, it is planned to build one unit – first stage construction – which is scheduled for commissioning and operation in quarter IV of the year 2012. However, design to be developed by “Institute Teploelectroproject” (“TEP”) will provide for the possibility of power plant extension. TEP will design all the auxiliary buildings and facilities in parallel with first stage commissioning so that should the Customer opt for further construction, it would be possible for the Institute to design unit two and unit three. Installed capacity of Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2 consisting of three units will make 1200 MW (3 units of CCPP-400). First stage construction will be designed and built on the basis of gas turbine unit SGT-4000 (Siemens). The project is interesting for its arrangement – due to the usage of a Siemens single shaft unit: gas turbine – hydrogen cooling generator – steam turbine – condenser. Supply of heat recovery steam generator has been tendered for.
Branch of “EC UES” – “Institute Teploelectroproject” - shall develop design documentation within 4 months and working documentation – within 18 months. The power plant will be designed as a stand-alone facility with its own utilities (water supply, sewer system), independent from the town. The new GRES power station construction site with the area of over 100 hectares is located in Chelyabinsk region not far from the town of Yuzhnouralsk– on the opposite site of water storage reservoir in relation to the existing Yuzhnouralskaya GRES. Currently, “Institute Teploelectroproject” is already carrying out survey work at construction site by the agency of its subcontractor. Completion of this effort is scheduled for January 2010.
Besides, branch of “EC UES” – “Institute Teploelectroproject” – will provide field supervision of GRES-2 construction, for which it is planned to sign an additional agreement with the general contractor.
