Korean Air to Build Residential Complex in Navoi
OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2009. The launch of the construction of the residential complex of Korean Air was held at Navoi free industrial-economic zone. South Korean businessmen and the representatives of the public of Uzbekistan participated in the event.
Navoi free economic-industrial zone is being built in accordance with the decree of the President of 2 December 2008. It is set to boost Navoi region’s and the country’s industrial potential, as well as develop the transport and social infrastructure.
New cargo and passenger transportation routes have been organized via Navoi international airport, with the participation of the Korean Air company.
“On 27 August 2008, first cargo plane of Korean Air arrived in Navoi airport. Since then, significant changes have taken place here,” Chi Chang Hoon, vice president of Korean Air said. “Navoi airport now serves more cargo routes of Korean Air and the National Air Company of Uzbekistan.”
The growing number of the joint ventures created in cooperation with South Korea, Singapore, China and other states, has proven that the project of Navoi economic zone has been successful, he noted.
“Korean Air has launched construction of three residential blocks consisting of 90 houses with a total area of 17,200 square meters. The complex, to open by August 2010, will include a recreation park and other objects,” Chi Chang Hoon said.
Hokim of Navoi region Ekrinjon Turdimov and the Ambassador of South Korea Kyong Je Min also participated in the construction launch ceremony.
