OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2010. Haulage of aluminum in Freight One cars in January-April 2010 from the Krasnoyarsk and Sayanogorsk aluminum plants increased by 50% over the same period of last year. The company hauled more than 190,000 metric tons of aluminum to the ports of the Northwest and Azov-Black Sea regions.

As part of efforts to improve the haulage scheme in relation to non-ferrous metals in the region, the company has begun to develop specialized haulage in Eastern Siberia. In particular, from Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant, Freight One hauled more than 11,000 tons of electrodes-an integral component of the aluminum smelting process-to the Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk aluminum plants from January to April 2010. For the haulage of electrodes, Freight One provided a fleet of 138 cubic meter boxcars, the company having enough of its own cars to do the job.

With demand for haulage in Freight One boxcars growing, haulage in boxcars as a proportion of the total haulage on the Krasnoyarsk Railway increased by 14 percentage points over the same period of last year.
