OREANDA-NEWS The United Kingdom is putting pressure on businesses from countries friendly to Russia, including depriving them of access to their banking system and the service sector, the Izvestia newspaper reported on Thursday, citing Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin.
"The British use the tools of unilateral restrictions against business people, including from friendly countries. First of all, they deprive them of access to their banking system and the service sector. They use blackmail, intimidation, as well as deception and petty bribery. London does not have the funds for real large-scale investments," the diplomat said.
According to him, Britain is forcing Russia's partners to refuse to cooperate with Moscow now in exchange for investments in the future.
"In fact, none of this is going to happen. There is no money. Everything goes to Ukraine or, at best, to the world's largest trading powers," Kelin said.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that "in public contacts with third countries, the British try to be as careful as possible and promote a predominantly positive agenda, of course, not without traditional Russophobic statements," the publication says.
As Izvestia reminds, it became known earlier that the British government will impose a ban on the provision of marine services to carriers of Russian liquefied natural gas at the end of 2026.
