OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2010. Freight flows passing through the port of Nakhodka totaled in January-July 9.4 million tons, a 1.4-percent gain from the same period last year.
The total seven-month volume gain includes a 19-percent increase in coal and coke (including charge, anthracite), or 1,59 million tons transshipped largely by Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port - 1.09 million tons (-14%). Another stevedore, Port East Gate-Primorsky Plant CJSC handled 116.300 tons of coal.

Ferrous metals throughput increased by 3.9%, to 2,745.400 tons, while petroleum products fell by 3%, to 4.22 million tons. Container volume plunged by 3,9 times from the same period a year earlier, to 1,241 TEUs.

Vostochny Port’s July throughput was 14% down from last year’s figure, at 1.31 million tons.

Port of Nakhodka is based in the northern Bay of Nakhodka stretching on both sides. The year-round navigable port is linked via Trans-Siberian Railroad with the entire railroad network of Russia and Western Europe.
