OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2010. Customers of Danske Bankas who hold a Gold Visa credit card are additionally insured against travel delays. If travelling by ship or plane is delayed for more than four hours beyond the scheduled departure time, the insured person will receive compensation of 40 EUR for each hour of delay. The maximum insurance benefit is 500 EUR, reported the press-centre of Danske Bankas.

Compensation for travel delay is calculated from the fifth hour of delay, unless the journey has been previously cancelled or announced in advance.

Darius Jasinskis, director of Product Management Department of Danske Bankas said that they started thinking about the urgency of such insurance in mid April when air transport in Europe was paralysed, following eruption of the volcano in Iceland. ‘In order to satisfy our customers’ needs, and to a certain extent, at least reduce the inconvenience, together with the insurance company If we supplemented the insurance package available for holders of Visa Gold cards,’ said Mr. Jasinskis. ‘Card holders who travel frequently are most likely to face such unpleasant situations, consequently, the new service is principally targeted at them,’ Mr Jasinskis added.

The new insurance service for Visa Gold card holders is provided at no extra charge. Holders of these cards are also automatically covered for mandatory medical aid insurance, accident insurance, baggage insurance, and civil liability insurance.
