OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2010. Results of the implementation of the development programme of the group of companies “Sea port of Saint-Petersburg” for 9 months of 2010

Within 9 months of 2010 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 826 mln. rubles for the implementation of port infrastructure development programme.

About  731 mln rubles were transferred for the modernization of the facilities of the container terminal on territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company. At the present moment equipment, one of the berths and engineering facilities have been put into operation. Construction works of railway track, entry buffer zone and other administrative buildings are being completed; IT and document flow systems of the terminal are being tested.

Over 60 mln rubles were transferred for technical reequipment of the stevedoring companies of the group. In particular in order to increase the speed of discharge of the vessels at the terminals of the First Stevedoring Company 2 lift-trucks “Kalmar” with the lifting capacity of 16 and 28 tons and 2 reach-stackers for handling of the reefer cargoes were purchased.

Over 19 mln rubles were transferred for the reconstruction of the open storage grounds Nr. 9 and 10 on the territory of the Second Stevedoring Company. New storage capacity will make it possible to increase the handling volumes by 200 thousand tons.

About 4 mln. rubles were transferred for the repairs of the quay line of the First, Second and Third Stevedoring Companies of the group located on the territory of the Greater port of Saint-Petersburg and Multipurpose Reloading Complex in Port of Ust-Luga. Besides, the berths of the First Stevedoring Company are being equipped with surveillance system.

Over 3 mln rubles were transferred for making of design documents and sanitary and environmental survey of the design area of the refrigerated terminal with the annual capacity of 1.5 mln tons. Putting into operation of new reefer capacities and warehouses for vegetables and fruits will make it possible to handle cargoes preserving high quality of foodstuffs and their compliance with the European sanitary norms.

The development programme of port infrastructure of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the construction of specialized handling facilities on the territory of the stevedoring companies, included in UCL Holding, which will make it possible to increase the handling turnover of the holding up to 20 mln. tons per year and attract the more profitable cargo flows to all divisions of the holding.

Container terminal with the annual capacity of 345 thousand TEUs is being constructed on the territory of the Fourth Stevedoring Company instead of old coal handling facilities – in order to satisfy the growing demand for the terminal services in the North-Western region.
