OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2011. Director General of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technologies emphasized during the “round table” that Moldtelecom’s practice of funding local talks at the expense of international ones has a disloyal competition character. He said he was sure that starting from March 1, when Moldtelecom’s new tariffs come in force, the market will liven up by means of alternative fixed communication operators which have been in stagnation ever since 2007 as they could not compete with the national operator in terms of prices for local talks which have been much lower than the prime cost.

In his turn, Moldtelecom commercial director Ion Rosca said the prime cost of maintenance of a number of fixed communication is 38.67 leis and the company needs to have tariffs rebalanced to bring them in line with the prime cost. Therefore, fixed communication subscriptions, minutes included into a subscription and the cost of local talks have been revised. As a result, local talks will be cheaper, but the user charge will rise in price, and will concern about 25% of subscribers; however, CLIP CLIR services will be provided free of charge and fees for international calls will reduce 2-3 times.

Moldtelecom Director General Vitalie Iurcu emphasized the company’s social responsibility: some social packages are kept. Chairman of Board of the Moldtelecom JSC Vladimir Didilica said the tariff rebalancing is an important step in reorganization of the company itself including enhancement of the services’ quality and personnel’s skills.
