OREANDA-NEWS. February 01, 2011. Over the week of January 24-28, 2011, the RTS Index went up by 0.04% to reach 1,885.53 points (1,884.76 points as of January 21, 2011). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 11.86 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 4.95 points) and OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (plus 3.74 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 0.08% to reach 11,937.63 points (11,946.61 points as of January 21, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 0.59% closing at 2,311.34 points (2,325.00 points as of January 21, 2011).

Last week’s multidirectional movement on the stock market was accompanied by an increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 0.89% to reach 24.80 points (24.58 points as of January 21, 2011).

Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index losing 1.15%. A significant decline was also shown by the industrial and telecommunication sectors with each of the RTS Industrial Index and the RTS Metals & Mining Index going down by 0.65%. The largest increase was in power sector when the RTS Electric Utilities Index went up 0.64%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 1.32%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.81% against the ruble to reach 29.67 rubles per US dollar (29.91 rubles as of January 21, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of January 24-28, 2011 equaled USD12.10 billion (360.76 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,601.52 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,373.63 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD526.67 million and ordinary shares of JSC  “LUKOIL” (LKOH) with a turnover of USD231.11 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 52.0%, 19.9% and 8.7% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of Joint Stock Company "Ufa Engine Industrial Association"  (UFMO) that went up by 24.56% to USD0.71 followed by ordinary shares of "FGC UES ", JSC  (FEES) – by 16.54% to USD0.0155 and Open Joint-Stock Company "DIXY GROUP"  (DIXY) – by 10.89% to reach USD14.25.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "ChMW" (CHMZ) that fell 45.41% to reach USD7.3698 followed by ordinary shares of  OJSC TNK-BP Holding  (TNBP) that lost 5.67% to reach USD2.83 and  GAZ  (GAZA) that lost 5.50% to reach USD47.25.
