OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. Gross foreign liabilities of Belarus’ national economy rose 29.2% in 2010 to USD 28.512 billion as of January 1, 2011, the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) stated.

Foreign debt expanded by USD 6.452 billion in 2010, which compares to USD 6.906 billion in 2009.

The debt of the central government went up 20.3% in 2010 to USD 10.058 billion as of January, 2011.

Foreign direct investment in Belarus increased 1.8% in 2010 to USD 813.5 million.

Commercial banks’ foreign liabilities increased 60% to USD 5.752 billion.

Gross foreign liabilities of other sectors of economy increased 12.5% to USD 10.033 billion. Foreign debt of monetary authorities went up 340% to USD 1.855 billion.

In 2009, Belarus’ gross foreign liabilities increased by USD 6.906 billion, or by 45.6%, to total USD 22.06 billion as of January 1, 2010.
