OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2011. First and secondary dust extraction fan system electricity-saving revamping project of No.3 furnace cast house in Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. iron-making plant set new record of shortest process and most immediate efficacy of its kind. It took over six months from start-up to efficacy. Till now, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. first contract energy management project successfully passed acceptance inspection, fulfilling designated target, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

To speed up energy-conservation technology application, enhance energy efficiency with market mechanism, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Energy & Environment Department tried new model of project enhancement contract energy management based on substantial research and process re-engineering since 2010. In June 2010, it chose Baosteel Inspection as service provider and signed first contract energy management project agreement of No.3 furnace first and secondary dust extraction fan energy-conservation system revamping.

According to operational requirements, Baosteel Inspection worked on project characteristics to complete within time limits current fan, piping and dust extraction system diagnostic inspection with service packages. Through efficient operation and benefits sharing with Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., energy-conservation projects recovered costs, gained profits and win-win results.
The project formally went on stream on November 23rd, 2010 through strong collaboration with iron-making plant. Equipments operated stably with remarkable anticipated effects. Statistics from December 2010 to March 2011 showed average electricity-saving rate of 23.8%, maximum 30% with estimated annual economic benefits reaching 3.5 million yuan. Random sample inspection results of Baoshan district environmental protection departments indicated parameters of on-site dust concentration met project requirements and related standards.

Compared with traditional energy-conservation project management models, this project fully displayed advantages of short process and immediate efficacy of contract energy management. Project took only six months from start-up to operation and efficacy, facilitating effective energy conservation and environment protection.
