OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2011. Fujitsu today announced the North American roll-out of its proven Global Cloud Platform, already launched in Japan, Australia, Singapore and UK. The Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform will be launched as a free trial of the Fujitsu Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering, beginning May 31 and ending on August 31. As the world's third-largest IT services provider, Fujitsu is well positioned to provide enterprise class, secure and highly available compute, storage, and network capacity via a web-based, self-service portal fully activated May 31. Organizations interested in registering for the free three-month trial of the Fujitsu cloud services can do so by visiting this portal.

For a limited time, organizations can access the Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering for application testing and development, as well as high-performance processing for workloads such as data analytics. This permits enterprises to try before they buy and to experience the breadth of the solutions on offer at no charge.

The service will become available for general release on September 1 and will be competitively priced based on actual usage compute, storage, Internet communications and software.

The Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform is an initial offering in support of cloud computing trends that are reshaping the IT industry. According to IDC Chief Analyst Frank Gens, over 80% of new enterprise applications will be developed for cloud in 2011, and by 2014, almost 20% of spending on enterprise applications will be via the cloud model.

Fujitsu America is introducing to the North American market the same cloud services offered by Fujitsu around the world, making it extremely easy for multinational enterprises to service their infrastructure needs locally in multiple locations. The platform is built on open standards with published APIs and includes 24/7 global support for the infrastructure platform. The U.S. service will be delivered from the Fujitsu green data center in the heart of Silicon Valley, enabling organizations to cut information and communications technology (ICT) costs by as much as 40% while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.

The Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform incorporates multi-tier security for a true enterprise-grade environment. Its browser interface makes it simple to build, provision and manage secure environments for even relatively complex three-tier workloads. Provisioning is highly flexible and availability guaranteed to be at least 99.95 percent.

"The Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform offers a high-quality IaaS cloud that enables enterprises to quickly deploy the appropriate business applications wherever they are in the world," said Jody Little, VP of Cloud Portfolio Marketing at Fujitsu America. "It lowers organizational costs and risk and enables standardization between business units in North America and other regions of the world. Its security and availability levels allow organizations to speed their innovation and reap the benefits of cloud economics for many more business applications."

The Fujitsu offering supports Microsoft, Linux and CentOS open source-based applications. Fujitsu offers a disciplined set of consultancy and transition services to mitigate risk and achieve maximum business value along all phases of the cloud journey. Fujitsu-experienced cloud consultants assist clients in analyzing their workload requirements and defining a cloud strategy that appropriately aligns to their business objectives.

"The Fujitsu approach is based on delivering practical solutions to help clients realize the benefits of cloud computing rather than embarking on theoretical solutions. Fujitsu works with you to determine the most optimal cloud solutions based on business and technology requirements," said Little. "For a limited time, Fujitsu America invites enterprises to consider consulting services and free IaaS cloud services now available throughout North America."
