OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2011. A Russian-Japanese meeting devoted to topic “Fukushima accident aftermath mitigation” arranged by Rosenergoatom was held in Moscow, reported the press-centre of Rosatom.
 
The meeting was participated from the Russian Party by Mr. Sergey Obozov, Rosenergoatom Director General, Mr. Anatoliy Kirichenko, Director of Rosenergoatom Department for International Cooperation and Foreign Trade Affairs, Mr. Larion Lebedev, Directotr General of State Research Center for Expert Assessment of Projects and Technologies as well as experts from leading Russian Research Institutes in the areas of nuclear industry, general environment protection, agriculture and water recourses.
 
The Japanese Party at the event was represented by representatives from the Agency for natural resources and energy, Ministry for agriculture, forestry and fishery, Ministry of environment and Embassy of Japan in Moscow.
 
In his welcome address to the meeting participants Mr. Anatoliy Kirichenko said: “Employees of nuclear industry are the united family. During the meeting between President of the Russian Federation Dmitriy Medvedev and Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kann in Dovile the necessity to provide comprehensive assistance to the Japanese people was highlighted. Many of Russian Ministries and Agencies are currently involved in cooperation in this area including State Corporation Rosatom. This meeting arranged on the premises of Rosenergoatom is the first organizational event in the course of which leading Russian experts will render the consulting to the issues of interest for Japanese counterparts.”
 
In his turn Mr. Sergey Obozov said: “Rosenergoatom is the only operating organization in Russia responsible for operation of all the nuclear power plants in Russia. The collective of our company as all the Russian people was sincere compassing and following the dramatic events in Japan this March. Our today’s meeting is not the first step of assistance, we helped from the very beginning on the operative issues upon requests of the Japanese Party. But now this assistant should become to be more systematic.”
 
In the course of the meeting the Russian experts made the presentations to the topics as follows: radiation protection, handling of damaged fuel, reprocessing of high-active liquid radioactive waste etc. and on July 28 the work was continued in VNIIAES.
 
Deputy Minister for agriculture, forestry and fishery of Japan Mr. Koiti Esida said his words of thankfulness to the management of Rosenergoatom for arrangement of the high-level event and highlighted that for the people of Japan the main nowadays goal is the restoration of the economy and the country in the whole, and the experience of Russian experts in this area is of extreme value.
