OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. The first mountainous metro in China - Phase 1 project of Chongqing's Rail Transit Line 1 was put into operation successfully. As the core unit taking part in the construction, Baosight Software undertook the comprehensive monitoring system with a contractual cost of over EUR 20 million (RMB 200 million approximately), reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

It is one of the key projects in Baosight Software's attempt to explore non-steel market and implement the strategy of "large traffic", which created the precedent of "starting and completing the project construction and putting the project into operation in the same year" of comprehensive monitoring system for urban rail transit sector, and became another milestone project for Baosight Software to further explore the urban rail transit business, improve market popularity and brand image.

As China accelerates the urbanization process and increases the inputs into infrastructure construction, the urban rail transit sector develops rapidly and has become of the key measures by the governments at various level to relieve urban traffic congestion. Baosight Software keenly seized this market opportunity. In 2005, Baosight Software took the "large traffic" industry with the development of urban rail transit as the core as the key field in the company's intelligent business, and determined it as the second largest strategic target market following "steel informatization".

At the end of 2007, Baosight Software won the bid of integration and construction of the comprehensive monitoring system of phase 1 project of Chengdu's metro line 1, entering the market of comprehensive monitoring system for rail transit for the first time. The successful debut in Chengdu's metro line 1 won favorable reputation for Baosight Software in the southwestern region, and laid the solid foundation for winning the project of Chongqing's metro line 1.

With a total length of 36.08 km, Chongqing's Rail Transit Line 1 is the trunk line of rail transit that runs across the main city from east to west. Since the project has long length and short construction schedule, the comprehensive monitoring system has to be constructed in parallel or alternately with the civil construction. Due to the unique mountainous terrain in Chongqing, the deepest metro station is 60m deep, equivalent to the height of 20-floor building.

The engineering technicians of Baosight Software had to carry equipment of scores of kilogram weight to climb over 450 steps, and made commissioning in the underground construction site which was not ventilated, no water supply connected and only temporary access was available. The entire phase 1 project involved over 10 stations. The equipment of the system was scattered in almost each corner of the station. In average there wre 20 commissioning points for each set of equipment, so the comprehensive monitoring system of one station only had approximately 6000 commissioning points. The implementation difficulty and labor intensity were the highest among domestic urban rail transit constructions.

The successful implementation of the comprehensive monitoring system of Chongqing's Rail Transit Line 1 will form a favorable demo effect in China's southwestern region and create the conditions for Baosight Software to further explore the western market.
