OREANDA-NEWS. February 3, 2012. ARMADA OAO (MICEX-RTS: ARMD) hereby announces that its subsidiary [1] has won the Culture Ministry’s tender to design an Internet portal to promote Russia’s cultural heritage and traditions. The three-year contract is valued at RUB 235.5m.

The contract involves development of software and digitizing of content, which will cost the majority of the funds. The government has allocated funds under the state program entitled “Information Society 2011-2020”.

There are over 2,000 state and municipal museums holding over 70 million exhibits in Russia. ARMADA will digitize part of collections, as approved by experts; the information that has already been digitized by large museums will also be added to the Internet portal. The Internet currently contains only a small amount of disparate information about Russia’s 90,000 historical, architectural and archeological monuments. A section of the portal will be devoted to Russian libraries, in particular rare editions of books. The most interesting performances by Russian theaters as well as webcasts will be available on the portal, in compliance with copyright laws. The portal will be integrated with leading social networks.

ARMADA has vast experience in creating web portals with rich content provision. Selected milestone projects since 1997 include rbc.ru, Moscow Kremlin museums’ portal, development of the largest storage of e-books in Russia for national electronic library, Russian state services portal, Sberbank’s portal, Moscow mayor and the city’s portal and lots of other significant internet-projects.
