OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2012. The Consumer Price Index grew 6,2% within February, 2011 – February, 2012, the National Bureau of Statistics informs. Inflation rate made up 1,3% in February, 2011 and 5,7% within February, 2010 – February, 2011.

In February, 2012 increase in foods prices equaled 1,3%, with prices for non-foods growing by 0,2%; tariffs for services rendered to population increased 0,3%. In February, 2012 as compared with January, the greatest increase was registered in prices for eggs (10,2%) and fresh vegetables (4,5%). In particular, prices grew by 11,1%, for carrots, 9,2% for beets, 5,3% for cabbages, 4% for tomatoes and cucumbers. Prices increased by 4,3% for bacon and 3,8% for beverages.

Prices for vodka increased by 18,3%. Prices for fish and fish products increased by 2,6%, for fresh fruit by 1,7%. Among nonfoods, insignificant growth in prices was registered for prints (0,6%), cloths and foot wear (0,2% each).

At the same time, there was the 0,2% decline in prices for computers. Coal and medicines prices decreased 0,1% each. Among services to population, prices grew 6,9% in health care, 6,25 for medical laboratories tests, 2,5% for dentists services and 0,4% for catering. Prices for most goods and services stayed unchanged in February. The National Bank decreased its inflation forecast fro 2012 from 6,5% to 4,9%. In 2011 inflation rate in Moldova made up 7,8%.
