OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. Representatives of Russia’s and Spain’s competition authority had a meeting at the 11th Annual ICN Conference in Rio-de-Janeiro (Brazil), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) is led by Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, Andrey Tsarikovsky. Spain’s National Competition Commission was represented by Rafael Coloma Ojeda, Chief of International Affairs Unit, and Jordi Fornells de Frutos, Chief of Information Society Unit.

The parties emphasized effective cooperation between FAS and Spain’s National Competition Commission, in particular, under the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of cooperation, signed on 12th December 2011 in Madrid.

Andrey Tsarikovsky also proposed to his Spanish colleagues to take part in Working Groups on investigating pricing on the market of oil and oil products and methods of their functioning.

The parties also agreed to conduct action-oriented cooperation investigating problems of competition in pharmaceutical sector, on the market of air transportation, airport services, and after-sales service.

The Head of FAS Department for Control over Industry and Defence Complex, Maksim Ovchinnikov, informed his Spanish colleagues about investigations of car distributors that are currently being conducted by Russian competition authority. Rafael Coloma Ojeda and Jordi Fornells de Frutos pointed out that Spanish antimonopoly authority had cases against car dealers and car distributors, related to infringement of the rights of dealers and consumers.

The Head of FAS Department for International Economic Cooperation, Lesya Davydova, invited representatives of Spanish competition authority to take part in Russian Competition Day in September 2012 in Kazan.

Overall, representatives of Spain’s National Competition Commission reacted positively to FAS proposal, which once again confirms a common goal of competition authorities – protecting competition for the benefit of the economy in general and consumers.
