Denmark Interested in Extending Economic Cooperation with Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. May 14, 2012. Business people from Moldova and Denmark held a business meeting titled, "Danish Solutions to Food Processing Industry," in Chisinau. The event took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and was focused on developing cooperation relations in the agro-food sector. The meeting was organized by the CCI in partnership with the Bucharest-based Danish embassy in Moldova.
In his speech, CCI deputy head Vladimir Didilica noted that the meeting is a proof of mutual interest in boosting and deepening the economic relations between Moldova and Denmark. This is an important event for the Moldovan business community, and the establishment of partnership relations with Danish business people will help increase the bilateral trade exchanges, Didilica said.
"While taking into account that a field of great interest for Moldova is the agro-food sector, the experience of Danish companies, technologies and their solution to the food processing industry is opportune for the Moldovan entrepreneurs, who are interested in establishing cooperation ties in this respect", Vladimir Didilica said. He also informed that, next October, the CCI plans to organize an economic mission of Moldovan business people in Denmark.
For his part, Danish Ambassador to Chisinau Michael Sternberg praised the economic relations between the two countries over the past years, as well as the interest of business people from both states to initiate and develop the cooperation in the agro-food sector, in line with the European Union's requirements and standards. He expressed conviction that the meeting will contribute to identifying new cooperation fields, will generate new opportunities for continuously developing the trade relations between the two countries, as well as new viable business partnerships.
The representatives of the Danish companies presented the biotechnologies for the food, pharmaceutical and agriculture industries. Also, they offered a wide range of solutions on the control over the entire production process in the food industry - from the raw material to the finished product. It is about the world famous companies "FOOS", "THE AMINODAN GROUP", "CHR HANSEN" and other well-known enterprises. In the context, the "FOOS" company is known as the biggest world provider of solutions to testing raw materials and finished products in the agro-food sector.
In 2011, Moldova's foreign commerce with Denmark (excepting the trade activity of the enterprises from the left bank of the Dniestre and the Bender city) was estimated at about 11 million dollars, - up by 2.4 per cent against 2010, due to a rise in both the import of goods from Denmark and export.
