OREANDA-NEWS.  May 14, 2012. A development of domestic livestock currently requires the calculation of the balance of production, consumption and export potential. Thus, a promising meat area is currently Ukrainian sheep breeding, which can become a powerful mutton exporter in the international market. This was informed by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk during a working trip to Zakarpattia.

The Minister says for today Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Ministry of Finance are working on calculations of balance of production, domestic consumption and export potential of the livestock industry.

Currently sheep breeding - it is an export-oriented meat area, the Minister says. "Recently a delegation of the Ministry together with the Prime Minister visited Qatar, earlier - Saudi Arabia and other countries. I can assure they are ready to buy Ukrainian mutton, as now these countries are importing a huge number of products from Australia. Ukraine is a more favourable state of climatic conditions, quality and location. Therefore, this area is promising, and we will develop it," noted Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
