OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2012. Walmart (NYSE: WMT) announced today that it will be among the first retailers to offer Clopidogrel, the generic version of Plavix®. Clopidogrel will be available at all Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies on May 19.

Clopidogrel is the latest of the thousands of generic medications Walmart offers, allowing Americans to access quality, effective medication alternatives for a more affordable price.

“Many of our customers struggle with the cost of health care in America and forego filling prescriptions to make ends meet,” said Dr. John Agwunobi, president of Walmart U.S. health and wellness. “Walmart is focused on bringing our customers the lowest prices on the products and services they need to stay healthy, including aggressively delivering new generic medications as they are released.”

Walmart is committed to delivering generic alternatives to name-brand medications as soon as they become available. This year a number of popular medications will be released as generic equivalents.
