OREANDA-NEWS. June 01, 2012. Wisco self-developed steel SA738Gr.B for nuclear power station passed technical evaluation, organized by container and pipeline steel branch of China Steel Construction Society, proving to be among world leading level. It shows that Wisco steel family for nuclear power station has added a new member, forming series production and supply capability covering from hot continuous rolling products, to plates, and to wide plates.

Researchers from Wisco R&D Center have been proactively following new needs from emerging fields and leading edge technical areas, and consecutively transforming these needs into R&D projects, effectively boosting Wisco high end products to prevail in the market. Steel SA738Gr.B, a key material for imported the third generation nuclear power technology AP1000 with high technical requirements, is another milestone for pressure container steel applied in nuclear power station containment. Since there were no open technical information and real objects available, researchers completed steel design, pilot tests, and small-l industrialized trial production on succession, finally produced tempering high strength plate with thickness of 46mm and width of 4000mm at the 4300 wide plate production line. The trial-produced plate, evaluated and tested by authoritative nuclear power equipments manufacturers, has all technical indicators reaching relative localization technical requirements for AP1000 and is available for engineering application.

In the future, Wisco will further enhance cooperation with nuclear power design, manufacturing and construction units, accelerating the steel to be applied in engineering construction.
