OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2012. “AutoKrAZ”, jointly with Ares Security Vehicles LLC (United Arab Emirates, Dubai), manufacturer of high quality armored vehicles, has started developing a new lineup of armored vehicles, reported the press-centre of AutoKrAZ. 

A new armored right-hand drive vehicle mounted on the KrAZ-5233HE chassis 4x4 is supposed to be provided with the YaMZ-238ДЕ2 engine rated at 330 hp and the 9JS150TA-B transmission with various engine and transmission options available.

Monocoque armored capsule provides protection meeting STANAG 4569 KE threat level 2 (7.62x39 API BZ at 695m/s, 30m, FSP 12.7mm at 420m/s; FSP 20mm at 630m/s) and blast threat level 3A and 3B (8kg TNT under a wheel and under the centre of the vehicle). In addition, the armor shall ensure chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive protection. Additional modular armor is possible to increase the KE threat protection to STANAG 4569 level 3 or higher - at the possible cost of a reduced payload.

Besides usual gun-ports and roof hatches, customers shall be offered a range of ring-mounts and protected weapon stations as well as the option of a remote-controlled weapon station. The vehicle shall be available in various versions such as armored personnel carrier 10+2 passengers, command and control mobile unit, mobile surveillance unit, ambulance, EOD vehicle.

“AutoKrAZ” intends to develop a simpler vehicle with less emphasis on mine protection but with a substantially increased payload for troupes and cargo transportation, and a shorter wheelbase for higher mobility.
