Moldova Will Take Decisive Steps to Diversify Energy Sources
OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2012. The Prime Minister of Moldova, said so during the meeting with an expert on energy issues, senior fellow at the Programme on Energy and National Security Center for Strategic and International Studies, USA, Edward Chow, which also involved the U.S. ambassador to the RM William Moser.
The dialogue was focused on the situation in the energy sector, diversification of energy resources of the country, industry trends at the regional and global markets. Filat, welcoming the visit of the U.S. expert in the country, said that Moldova intends to develop new types of energy resources and explores the opportunities available. Reviewing of the current situation in the Moldovan energy Filat told about the plans before the end of 2013 to build a pipeline Ungheni-Iasi, as well as on construction and interconnection of high-voltage power line Balti-Suceava.
The Prime Minister also said that Moldova is interested in using alternative energy sources, including biomass-based. In turn, Edward Chow said that in short time he is in Moldova he studied its energy situation and came to the conclusion that our country is one of the most vulnerable in this regard.
The expert emphasized the need for emergency response in order to diversify energy resources and their effective management.
