OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2012. At the construction site of the first power unit of the Baltic NPP the key event of July for the organizations of TITAN-2 Holding has become the completion of foundation plate concreting for the reactor building up to mark -7,50.

The builders from the Holding's subsidiaries have carried out the following works at the buildings and structures of the "nuclear island":

• The concreting of reactor's foundation plate from mark – 10. 95  to mark – 7.50 has been completed. In the course of works 5,420 cubic metres of concrete has been laid;

• Vertical waterproofing of the walls of the security building and the reactor building is going on;

• In the security building, at mark – 8.80 laying of 2,000 cubic metres of concrete and 411 tons of reinforcement into the foundation plate and the floor slab has started;

1853 cubic metres of concrete and 371 tons of reinforcement is laid into the foundation of the administrative building.

The work related  to arrangement of the  spur railway track "Neman – construction site of Baltic NPP" superstructure and substructure are going on. This track will serve  for delivery of all the construction materials and the equipment for the station. The total railway track length will exceed 12 kilometres.

Baltic NPP project implies construction of two power units with a  1,150 MW–reactor of WWER type and heating capacity of 250 GCal each.  The  design-to-life cycle  of Baltic NPP is 50 years, and that of the key equipment is 60 years. The commissioning of the first power unit is scheduled for 2016, and of the second  one – for 2018. The station location is the north-east of Kaliningrad region, about 15 km away from the town of Neman. The construction management company for Baltic NPP  is Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The Contractor General is JSC NIAEP.
