OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2012. Russian Helicopters, part of state defence holding company Oboronprom and a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, salutes the Russian Air Force on its 100th anniversary.

Russian Helicopters supplies the Russian Air Force with increasing numbers of the latest helicopters every year. The Russian Defence Ministry is one of the company’s largest and most important customers. In the next decade, more than 1,000 modern helicopters will enter service with the Russian Air Force, including the new Ka-52 Alligator and Mi-28N Night Hunter attack helicopters, new versions of the Mi-8 and Mi-35 military transports, the Mi-26 heavy transports and the light Ansat-U training model.

Thanks to steady orders from the state, Russian Helicopters is able to increase investment in R&D and develop next-generation helicopters. In the near term, the country’s armed forces will take delivery of military aircraft in advance of trends on the global helicopter building market.

The Russian Air Force will celebrate its 100th anniversary at the Zhukovo air base in Moscow Region on 10-12 August. There will be a once-in-a-lifetime display of First and Second World War-era military aircraft, as well as modern aeroplanes and helicopters made by both Russian and foreign manufacturers.
