OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2012. The members of the Central Asia Coordinating Energy Council held the 15th meeting of the Council in the Katarkol village in Akmola oblast. Heads of energy and dispatching companies from three countries discussed the results of the Central Asia Integrated Power System performance during the last vegetative season and the proposed mode of operation in the coming autumn-winter season 2012-2013.

The members of the Council reviewed plan for coordination of cooperation, as well as the issues of implementation of the joint decisions and earlier commitments.

The Kazakh side initiated preparation of the draft agreement on parallel operation of energy systems of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan between KEGOC and Kyrgyzstan National Power Grid and Uzbekenergo to secure the mutually beneficial cooperation and parallel operation in the coming autumn-winter period.

The Council stressed that the adoption of this important document will detail the conditions of partnership and establish a legal framework to ensure the efficient and reliable parallel operation of power systems.

Background:

Central Asia Coordinating Energy Council is the consultative body. It was established in 2003 on the initiative of the national energy companies of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The first meeting was held on 10 June 2005 in Astana.

The meeting participants were:

Medetbek Aitkulov – director general of Kyrgyzstan National Power Grid (OJSC), Kyrgyz Republic

Sukhrob Rakhimov – first deputy chairman of the Management board of Barki Tochik (OJSC) energy company, Republic of Tajikistan

Ruzikul Raimov – deputy chairman of the Management board of Uzbekenergo State JSC, Republic of Uzbekistan

Bakytzhan Kazhiyev – chairman of the Management board of KEGOC JSC, Republic of Kazakhstan

Khamidilla Shamsiyev – director of Energia Coordinating Dispatch Center, Republic of Uzbekistan
