Moldova: Industrial Production Decreased 0,4% in January-August
OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2012. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, as compared with August, 2011 it decreased 5.4%. In January-August, 2012 production in the mining industry grew 7.1% as compared with the same period of 2011 in Moldova.
The processing industry and the energy sector (generation and distribution of electricity and heat) saw the decline of 0.1% and 3.8% respectively. In January-August, 2012 it was produced 4.2% more foodstuff and beverages than in the same period in 2011. Production and processing of meat grew 17.9%, production of vegetable oils and fats increased 17.1%, production of dairy increased 7.1%, wine by 6.8%, mineral water and refreshers by 4.6%.
Production of medical devices, precious and optical instruments increased 1.5 times; it was produced 32.5% more electrical machines and equipment, 5.3% more textiles and 3.3% more non-metal mineral products (glass, concrete, gypsum and cement items). At the same time, in this period it was produced 32.8% less flour-grinding products, 23% less tobacco goods and 19.7% less cloths.
A decline in production made up 17.6% in the metallurgic industry, 17.2% in the engineering industry, 16.6% in the paper and cardboard producing industry and 10.3% in leather and foot wear industry, 9.7% in the printing industry, 8.8% in the production of finished goods, except machines and equipment. Production of processed and canned fruit and vegetables declined 7.1%, woodwork production decreased 6.5%.
Heat and steam supply declined 4.9%, bread and bakery decreased 4.3%, power generation fell 3%, chemical production declined 2.4%, production of cacao, chocolate, confectionary declined 1.4% and production of distillate alcohol beverages decreased 0.7%. The National Bureau of Statistics has not provided information about volumes of production expressed in monetary terms.
