OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. Specialists of TITAN-2 Holding’s subsidiary OJSC UAT have completed manufacturing of two thousand couplings intended for the construction site of Leningrad NPP-2.

The order for their production was received from KOMPAKT, JSC - one of the major contractors participating in construction of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant. Component parts for mechanical coupling of reinforcement bars have already been delivered to the customer and will be used in erection of reactor building at the first power unit.

Threaded couplings are used in industrial construction for joining the reinforcement bars to each other. Their application reduces time and labour efforts of builders significantly and allows them to give up labour-intensive welding works. A lot of couplings are used in particular at such large construction sites as Leningrad NPP-2 and Baltic NPP.

TITAN-2 Holding is the largest Group of Companies in the North-West of Russia which erects the most important facilities of nuclear industry and power engineering. Its organizations perform the full cycle of building and assembly works: from development of design documentation to the facility commissioning. The Holding consists of more than 15 business units and employs about 4,000 employees.

The project for using threaded couplings for reinforced bars of its own production has been implemented at TITAN-2 Holding since 2010. The TITAN threaded couplings have passed all the stages of the tests, basing on which the certification authorities issued the certificate of conformity No. ROSS RU.SL 86.N00040. Economic calculation shows domestic production TITAN couplings are up to 40% cheaper than similar ones produced abroad. Production line for manufacturing threaded couplings, based on the Austrian turning complex EMCOTURN E65-Big Bore, is capable of production up to 600 couplings a day, as well as produces a wide range of turning products with diameter from 1 to 600 millimeters and accuracy up to 4 microns.
