OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2012. Tata Power, through its subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power, organised a month-long contest for students across seven schools in Mundra, Gujarat. This is in line with the company’s philosophy to provide quality education to the children in and around its Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project. The theme of the contest was designed with the objective to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bapu (October 2), and inculcate his philosophies and teachings in young minds.

Sixteen students from each school were divided into four groups and were chosen by the school principals and teachers based on their academic performance. The theme of the contest was highlighted along with the objective of the initiative undertaken by the company. Winners from each school were awarded and also provided with educational support materials.

Speaking on this initiative, KK Sharma, chief, Mundra project, said, “The enthusiastic participation and involvement of the school students in the contest was remarkable and very encouraging. It’s our endeavour to positively shape the education system of Mundra and facilitate students to become responsible citizens of the country. We would also like to thank the teachers and principals of the schools in extending their support to this initiative.”

CGPL’s efforts were applauded by the school managements. The enthusiastic response of the students, clubbed with moral and civic teachings, encouraged the school management teams to plan this contest on an annual basis, moving forward.
