Government to Adopt Ukrainian Legislation in Environment to EU
OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2013. With its first resolustion approved the current year the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has changed calculation of the amount of compensation caused by pollution from ships, vessels and other watercrafts in territorial and internal waters of Ukraine. With a respective resolution №1 of January 3, 2013 the Government has made changes to the resolution № 484 of the CMU dated July 3, 1995.
The aim of the adoped resolution is to bring categorization of toxicity of contaminants in compliance with requirements of Annex II of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) changed by Protocol of 1978 to it (MARPOL 73/78) that came in force for Ukraine in January of 2007.
Adoption of the resolution will ensure compliance of norms of the current legislation of Ukraine with MARPOL 73/78 in the part of calculation of the amount of compensation caused by emissions from shipping in territorial and internal waters of Ukraine taking into account the category of toxicity of contaminants carried out into water.
