Ukraine Concerned in Stirring Up Bilateral Cooperation with Lithuania
OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2013. Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Petras Vatiekunas.
In the course of meeting the diplomats considered issues of bilateral cooperation, measures taken by the Government of Ukraine directed to improvement of economic situation within the state and issues of European integration of Ukraine and cooperation in the WTO framework as well.
The Minister thanked to this interlocutor for active support of Ukraine on its way towards European integration on the part of Lithuania and stressed that the Republic of Lithuania plays an active role in maintaining a Ukraine-Eurounion dialogue.
Ihor Prasolov emphasized that despite global financial-economic crisis’ impact 2012 showed record for the whole history of bilateral trade cooperation amounts of trade turnover (with goods and services) totaling USD 1 bln 245 mln.
The parties agreed concerning the need to stir up realization of certain projects in energy and transport areas.
Moreover, Ihor Prasolov expressed his beliefs that the year of 2013 will trigger new investment projects: “We count not only on two-way investment flows, especially in science and innovation spheres, but on the growing presence of Lithuanian companies that will bring new technologies and modern European approaches in organization and making business. We hope that signed in April of 2012 Memorandum on cooperation between the state investment agencies of Ukraine and Lithuania will give a new impetus to our cooperation in investment area and will become an effective instrument of its development,” the Minister views.
In the course of meeting it was noted that the Parties count on signing within nearest time a Road Map of the development of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania for 2013 – 2014.
An effective bipartite cooperation in the economic sphere will contribute to improvement of strategic partnership between our states and afford to step to a new level of mutual cooperation, underlined the Minister.
