WB Names its Priorities for Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2013. The World Bank drafts a concept of research “Policy priorities for the development of the private sector” to be a guideline for the development of the Partnership Strategy for Moldova for 2014-2017. The concept of the research was discussed at a meeting of leaders of the Ministry of Economy with World Bank representatives. Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar told representatives of the WB about priority policies aimed at enhancing a business environment in Moldova, about implementation of the regulatory reform and pointed out a necessity to enhance access of enterprises to lending through creation of a system of credit guarantees or a special credit line; he also mentioned a need for a flexible labour market and restructured management of external trade flows.
Valeriu Lazar requested representatives of the World Bank to pay special attention to a matter of competitiveness of domestic enterprises when developing the Partnership Strategy for Moldova and launch projects aimed at extension of an opportunity of doing business in Moldova and touching on such areas as economic and financial analysis, planning, marketing, etc. The Economy Minister also requested for prolongation of the section “Access to Lending" of the Competitiveness Enhancement project through the launch of a new project providing for a credit line or a credit guarantee system for Moldovan enterprises.
According to WB representatives, when making the research, experts will analyze financial and economic conditions at private enterprises of Moldova by using business development and dynamics tool, and Moldova will become one of the first states where this tool will be used. At the request by the Economy Ministry of Moldova the research of the World Bank will also embrace matters of enhancing competitiveness of domestic enterprises in the context of the signing and coming into effect of DCFTA.
