OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2013. Spreading from POSCO to Family companies, the `Thanks Sharing Campaign` which is evolving into a happy employee, happy corporate culture is spreading into regional society, reported the press-centre of POSCO.

Gwangyang Steelworks stepped forward to share thanks and smiles, knowledge and wisdom to the City of Gwangyang through the Thanks Sharing Campaign, to contribute to making a city of joy together with the residents.

In response to a frame with 1,000 thank you notes presented to the City of Gwangyang by the POSCO Family this past January to spread and share the Thanks Sharing Campaign, the City of Gwangyang presented Gwangyang Steelworks with a frame including a collection of 1,245 thank you notes on February 1st.

Gwangyang Steelworks Head Baek Seunggwan shared the meaning of the Thanks Sharing Campaign and detailed cases of thanks sharing carried out by Gwangyang Steelworks in a special lecture to 250 public service personnel of the City of Gwangyang.

Gwangyang City Hall`s Oh Jaeheon said, ``Gwangyang Steelwork`s Thanks Sharing Campaign is in line with the City of Gwangyang`s 1•2•5 campaign which was started in 2010. We hope Gwangyang Steelwork`s Thanks Sharing Campaign melts deeply into the hearts of local residents and take root as a beautiful culture.``

Gwangyang Steelworks has been carrying out thanks sharing activities in each division since last year as part of making a happy corporate culture.

Management level participation was also very high with Steelworks Head Baek Seunggwan sending thank you letters to 6,200 employees each week.

Through the Iron Making Division`s operation of the thanks sharing red postbox, Steel Making Division`s `Thanks Day` where every moment in daily life is worth thanks, and the Steel Plate Division`s (Our Happy Story) newsletter, Gwangyang Steelworks has opened up hearts among colleagues through communication, respecting each other and spreading cultures of gratitude and acknowledgement to form an exciting work environment. These thanks sharing activities of Gwnagyang Steelworks is spreading to the employees` families and further out to the local society.

Meanwhile, Pohang Steelworks also formed the `Thanks Sharing Head Promotion Office of Pohang` along with the City of Pohang this past May, spreading thanks sharing activities customized for each field including the Public Prosecutor`s Office, local prison, schools, steel industrial park, 125 sister towns, civic organizations, and military units. Leading global companies such Toyota, Tangshan Steel, Samsung Heavy Industries, and the Korea Electric Power Association are also benchmarking POSCO`s thanks sharing activities as a success case.

Especially at the `1st Annual Thanks Festival` held at the Seoul National Assembly Constitution Memorial Hall on January 28th, Pohang Steelwork`s Coke Factory 2 won the grand prize and introduced their thanks sharing activities as well as excellent cases, sharing POSCO`s various corporate culture and happiness management both internally and externally.
