Ukraine’s top-qualified logistics experts gathered at the 9thSupply Chain & Logistics Forum, where they discussed the urgent issues and shared their practices and forecasts with regards to the industry’s future. The strategic session was devoted to the global trends impacting Supply Chain Management

Mikhail Taran, Director of Logistics Department at BaDM presented his speech during the 1st panel,in which he told of lost sales, slow inventory turnand unproved costs the company had experienced and the ways that improved the situation. The speaker demonstrated the methodology of a preliminary processing the statistics and templates of forecasting models with regards to the core rangeas well as recommended to train personnel of supply chain departments and integrate inventory stock management systems

Vladislav Karpets, the Project Manager at Coca-Cola’s Logistics Department presented a case dedicated to adaptation of supply chains to a change in the corporate logistics infrastructure.Within his speech Mr. Karpets put to analysis the transportation strategy of Coca-Cola HBC, told of the key factors and general trends in the transportation sector as well as gave a few best practices and cases for realizing the potentisal for growth

Yuriy Poenko, Director of Logistics Department at Omega LLC (Varus retail chain) made an interesting report ‘Development of procurement logistics: the retailer’s practices’,based on the actual case. Mr. Poenko underlined that a retailer’s procurement logistics was a continuous process of buying commodities from external suppliers with minimal general expenses. The speaker presented the example of a process audit and singled out the KPI’s in a procurement system

The interactive panel in a round-table format followed the presentations made during the event. The participants had a very active discussion on the subject ‘Outsourcing of logistics services as a way to reduce own costs’

Alina Gannotskaya, Marketing Director at UVK told of the key advantages the company’s customers attained while delegating UVK to perform their logistics operations, such as transfer of costs from fixed to variable,use of facilities and capabilities of Ukraine’s largest national operator,increase of On-Shelf-Availability (minimizing out-of-stocks), reduction of a retail chain’s costs with regards to assuring the logistics function at stores, reduction of IT related costs, reduction of a product’s cost on account of cutting buying prices from suppliers (scalability saving) and, as a result, increase of a trade margin
