Transaero Airlines’ approach to disabled passengers is one of attentiveness and benevolence, aiming to do everything necessary to ensure disabled passengers are able to travel in maximum comfort.

Transaero’s fleet meets all the necessary requirements for the carriage of disabled passengers. The airline acquired unique avia-beds for recumbent patients travelling in a critical condition, and installed special seats, allowing disabled passengers to move around the cabin during the flight on all types of aircraft.

Transaero pays special attention to the training of its employees in technology and in providing a first class service to disabled passengers. Training is conducted at the company’s own Aviation Training Centre, in compliance with the highest international standards, using proprietary training and monitoring software and instructional aids developed by the company. In co-operation with the disabled people’s society, Perspectiva, Transaero Airlines provides employees with training in assisting passengers with different disabilities. These training programs are included in mandatory for Transaero’s employees.

Transaero Airlines has worked closely with its partners in tackling transport accessibility for disabled people. In 2011, in co-operation with Moscow Domodedovo Airport, the All-Russian Society of the Disabled and the Association of Passenger Service Providers on Transport, Transaero Airlines developed a corporate standard for services for disabled passengers on air transport. The standard sets both the general principles of services for disabled passengers and the technology that should be available for the carriage of disabled passengers.

Transaero Airlines has accumulated solid positive experience in transporting wheelchair-bound people, the visually or sight-impaired and the critically ill. The airline regularly flies Paralympians including Paralympic sports teams. The airline also promotes the participation of the wheelchair-bound in different kinds of cultural and creativity contests, both in Russia and abroad, and there is no limit to the number of disabled people that can be on board of any Transaero Airlines flight.

Transaero Airlines is the only transport enterprise in Russia that is a member of the Russian Business Council on Disability.

Transaero Airlines takes its responsibilities seriously and is continually looking to improve conditions for disabled people on board of its planes. Furthermore, the airline is happy to share its experiences and knowledge to improve standards across the industry.
