Kazakh PM Held Talks with Romanian Counterpart
OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2013. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov has held talks with Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta.
Calling Romania a key partner of Kazakhstan in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, Akhmetov noted the intensity of development of bilateral trade and economic relations.
Akhmetov called for intensification of the mechanisms of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and the Kazakh-Romanian Business Council, established in 2012 with the support of the Romanian side. "This will contribute to the further development of business relations, successful implementation of specific projects in priority sectors," the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said.
He also called for the participation of Romanian businesses in the industrial development of Kazakhstan, implementation of projects in the transit transport sector, as well as expanding cultural ties.
In turn, V.Ponta noted that "today's visit is the first visit of the Prime Minister of Romania for 20 years of bilateral relations." "I have arrived in Astana to discuss priority areas of cooperation with the Government of Kazakhstan," he said.
"Romania can become a successful partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union," he said and pointed out that the "meeting is a new beginning in our bilateral relations."
As a result of the Kazakh-Romanian negotiations there were signed two agreements on cooperation in joint military training and in the field of culture.
The prime ministers of Kazakhstan and Romania held a briefing at the end of the signing ceremony.
According to Akhmetov, during the meeting special attention was paid to the development of relations in the economic, trade, investment, energy field, mutually beneficial use of transit and transport potential of the two countries, cultural and educational exchange.
In general, according to the head of the Government, "the outcome of the negotiations demonstrated the similarity of our approaches on many topics on the international agenda and the parties' desire to expand cooperation in the priority areas of cooperation."
