The gross value added in the commodities sector grew 6.1% as compared with the same period of the past year and contributed to the evolution of GDP 1.3%. The gross added value created in agriculture, hunting, fishing and industry grew 3.4% and 7.4% respectively. Contribution of the gross value added of the goods sector in GDP made up 21.3%. The gross value added created in the service sector increased 3.5% as compared with the past year and contributed 2.3% to the growth of GDP.

The greatest growth of the gross value added was recorded in wholesale and retail (+5.9%), in transport and communication (+3.7%); in construction (+3.6%) and in the sector of other services (+2.5%). In the sector of other services the considerable growth was registered in the area of utility, social personal, housekeeping services (11.5%), in the real estate area and business-to-business services (6.2%), and in the hotel and restaurant business (5.5%). The less growth was recorded in financial brokerage (0.7%), in health care and social assistance (0.6%) and in public administration (0.4%).

The gross value added decreased in education by 2.8%. The service industry contributed in the forming of GDP 63.1%. Receipts to the national budget from taxes on foods increased 5.9% as compared with the first half-year of 2012 and positively affected GDP by 0.1%. A share of food taxes in GDP madder up 17.8% of GDP in the reporting period. Final consumption grew 4.5% and contributed to GDP 5.4%.

The increase was formed by the 5.8% bigger final household consumption. Gross fixed capital formation increased 4.5% to 22.6% of GDP. Visible and invisible export and import grew 5.1% and 5.4% respectively as compared with the same period of the past year.

In 2012 GDP fell in Moldova 0.8% due to the severe drought. In the first quarter of 2013 it grew by 3.5%. According to projections by the government of Moldova and IMF, in 2013 GDP will grow 4% or even more.
