OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2013. According to the latest figures, in September 2013 Russian Railways carried 95.9 m passengers on its own infrastructure, 3% more than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 86.7 m, up 4%, while long-distance passengers fell 5.8% to 9.2 m.

Passenger turnover in September 2013 amounted to 12.4 bn passenger km, 6.2% less than in the same month in 2012.

In January-September 2013, the network carried 827.7 m passengers, an increase of 4.4% compared to January-September 2012. Long-distance passenger numbers fell 4.2% to 86.3 m, while suburban commuters increased +5.6% to 741.4 m

Passenger traffic on the network of Russian Railways since the beginning of 2013 decline by 3.5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 109.2 bn passenger km.
