KazTransOil Launches 2 New Oil Pumping Stations
OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2013. JSC “KazTransOil” accepted into service two new oil pumping stations – OPS №8 and OPS №10 of Atassu-Alashankou main oil pipeline, owned by LLP “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline”.
As is said in the press-release of KazTransOil company, the construction of two new oil pumping stations was performed within the frame of the second phase of construction of Kazakhstan-China system of main oil pipelines. The works of these production facilities will allow increasing the Atassu-Alashankou oil pipeline capacity up to 20 mln. tons of oil per annum.
According to information, the construction was funded by LLP “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline”, and actual expenditures from the start of project implementation was 9.3 bln. tenge (without VAT) for OPS No.8 and 11.6 bln. tenge (without VAT) for OPS No. 10.
As press-release says, the production facilities of OPS are equipped with modern automated supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA), electric power fiscal metering system, fire and gas alarm. The whole complex of production, administrative and amenity buildings complies with the modern requirements of workplace management and occupational safety.
The staff of the OPS 8 and OPS 10, due to their remote location from population areas, will work on rotation system. Totally 124 new working places were established for the work at new production facilities. Part of the staff was employed from the locals, which had already passed the required training and preparation.
As is known, the Atassu-Alashankou pipeline is a part of Kazakhstan-China system of main oil pipelines. From the launching the Atassu-Alashankou in 2006 and till the end of 2012 52.1 mln. tons was transported along it (of them in 2006 – 2.2 mln.tons and in 2012 – 10.4 mln. tons). The total oil transshipment volume for 11 months of this year in Atassu-Alashankou oil pipeline was 10.9 mln. tons.
The owner of the Atassu-Alashankou oil pipeline is LLP “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline”, joint venture of the JSC “KazTransOil” and CNODC (50% share each). KazTransOil also owns 51% in the JSC “North-West Pipeline Company “Munaitas”.
The implementation of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline construction project is divided onto two stages, with the pipeline capacity at the first stage 10 mln.tons per year and increase of its capacity up to 20 mln. tons per year after completion of the second stage of the construction. Kenkijak-Atyrau oil pipeline (2003; owner JSC “NWPC “Munaitas”) and Atassu-Alashankou (2006; owner LLP “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline”) were constructed with the frame of the first stage of project implementation. The II stage includes two phases. The Kenkijak-Kumkol main oil pipeline (2009; owner LLP “Kazakhstan-China Pipeline”), HOPS “Kumkol” (2009; owner JSC “KazTransOil”) are constructed with the frame of the first phase. Within the frame of the second stage it is planned to reverse the direction of oil pumping and construct 4 additional pumping stations at Atyrau-Kenkijak section, construction of 3 pumping stations at Kenkijak-Kumkol section and increase of capacity of Kumkol-Karakoin and Karakoin-Atassu oil pipelines.
