OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2014. Deputy Minister of Incomes and Fees of Ukraine Volodymyr Khomenko and Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski discussed an idea to set up Financial Investigation Service in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Khomenko outlined a vision of creating the agency and the interlocutors agreed that Jan Tombinski would facilitate in holding of an enlarged meeting with members of the European states.

“We would like to hear the best examples of experience in the similar issues from the EU states. As the common system of economic protection, we are engaged into creating of it, operates successfully in several European countries. We don’t mean to ask funds from Europe, we just appeal for experience,” the Deputy Minister said. 

“Our main goal in the process of creating of the Service is to destroy the conditions for development of corruption. We shall cure through surgery, as corruption is one of the most serious diseases of law enforcement system”.

The stolen money, according to the Deputy Minister, must be returned to the budget.

“We have managed to prevent embezzlement of 2 billion hryvnyas only throughout two months. It is our golden rule, we are to apply it to the future agency as well: the service should not spend more funds than it returns to the country”.

The Head of EU delegation to Ukraine took into account the information concerning creating of financial investigation service and aired his approval of an idea to develop a transparent and efficient system, called to ensure money of tax payers and the state funds of Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine is a state with perfect resources, capable to meet its needs and make contribution into development of Europe.
