OREANDA-NEWS.  July 09, 2014. The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) World Finals were held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The IBA-sponsored team of the Belarusian State University (BSU) was one of 122 teams that reached the competition's finals. This year, the Ural Federal University hosted the contest.

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest has been conducted by the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) since 1977. This year more than 30 000 students from 2300 universities and 91 countries competed in regional contests for the right to come to Russia and participate in the World Finals. The best teams of 112 universities made to the finals. According to the regulations, four gold, four silver, and four bronze medals were awarded to twelve winning teams that showed the best results. Students from the Saint Petersburg State University won the 38-th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

The BSU team consisted of three students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of BSU and took the 14th place at the World Finals.

Pavel Mandrik, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of BSU, expressed his gratitude to IBA Group for support of the BSU team at the ACM ICPC.

Since 1998, IBA has been supporting Belarusian student teams. IBA is the general sponsor of the student team of the Belarusian State University (BSU). In 2004, the team won gold medals at the 28th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. In 2007, the BSU Team showed good results and was ranked as a skilled team at the ACM ICPC. In 2008, the BSU team won bronze medals of the championship.
