Eurasia IC Pays USD2,6mn in Respect of Huge Fire in UK
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2014. The Kazakhstan based Eurasia Insurance Company prepared USD 2.6m in respect of the a large blaze occurred at the chemical factory in Leicestershire, which is owned by General Electric Company - informed the press-service of the insurance company, reported by the Information Agency “Novosti - Kazakhstan”.
“The preliminary total amount of the loss is amounted to USD 71.6m. The damaged factory was reinsured against all type of risks of material damage and business interruption”, - stated in the message.
In the morning of July 9, 2014 a chemical reaction began at the factory causing a fire which spread rapidly through the building. The fire service of the city said there was a chemical spill in the building and the flames "spread rapidly", but crews "prevented it becoming a major incident". According to them, the main cause of the occurred fire could be the five liter spillage of nitric acid, which caused a rapidly spread fire.
