OREANDA-NEWS. September 01, 2014. Citi announced that it had recently received several Asia awards from Global Custodian, a leading publication covering the international securities services business.

In commemoration of its 25th anniversary, Global Custodian recognized custodian banks in Asia for excellence and consistency at their Awards for Excellence in Asia dinner in Hong Kong. The magazine presented awards to custodian banks who had achieved the highest ranking cumulative scores over the past five years in their annual customer surveys. The annual surveys are used by Buy- and Sell-side customers to assess custodian banks across many service areas.

Citi collected seven Awards for Excellence for providing the best sub-custody services in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan and Taiwan. This recognition follows the Global Custodian awards dinner in London, where Citi was named the best provider of Regional Sub-Custody in Asia for Major Markets, and China was awarded the best Single Market Sub-Custody in Asia for Emerging Markets.

"Through our annual customer surveys, Citi has shown year after year its ability to demonstrate outstanding expertise in custody not only across the region overall, but also in many individual markets," said Janet Du Chenne, Managing Editor, Global Custodian. "Given its global footprint and reputation for excellence, we hope to have Citi in the winner's circle for years to come."

"We are pleased to receive this recognition for consistent high quality service," commented David Russell, Regional Head of Securities Services at Citi, on the Awards for Excellence in Asia. "We feel these awards are indicative of the trust that our customers place in us and are pleased to have consistently received their vote of confidence over a five year period that was undoubtedly challenging for the market."

Citi's Direct Custody and Clearing provides asset servicing and transaction functions primarily to intermediaries such as broker-dealers, global custodians and banks, and increasingly to fund managers, insurance companies and other global investors through a proprietary network in over 60 markets. The scale of this network, provided through Citi's own offices and staffed with Citi experts in each market, provides a valuable service for clients.
