Kazakhstan, Venezuela to Cooperate in Oil & Gas Sector
OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2015. Kazakhstan and Venezuela will cooperate in the oil and gas sector. This statement has been made by Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov after a meeting with the Minister of Public Authority for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Delsey Rodriguez.
"Kazakhstan and Venezuela are oil and gas producing countries. Venezuela is a member of the OPEC. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela is accompanied by Venezuela's oil minister on this trip. We shall have to conduct negotiations with the Kazakh Ministry of Energy, and to meet with the Prime Minister. Of course, this is an important aspect of our cooperation. Kazakhstan and Venezuela will cooperate in this sphere," E. Idrissov said.
The Minister also noted that Kazakhstan and Venezuela are supporters of integration approaches, and this is an additional factor for the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the EEU and the forthcoming accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO.
In turn, D. Rodriguez noted that the commitment of Kazakhstan and Venezuela to broaden and deepen cooperation was confirmed at the meeting. She thanked Kazakhstan for its support of Venezuela in foreign affairs and wished Kazakhstan to become a nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council in 2017-2018.
Following the negotiations, Memorandum on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries was signed.
