Carcinogens found in Chinese tires
Source: OREANDA-NEWS
OREANDA-NEWS Excess content of carcinogenic substances was found in car tires from China. This is reported by TASS with reference to a study by Roskachestvo.
The agency tested 10 tire brands on the market for the content of "Gulf region hydrogens" (HBay). The norm is indicators within 0.25 percent. If Russian brands meet this requirement, then dangerous oils in Chinese products exceed the safe threshold by 3.2-7.7 times.
For example, GoForm AT01's substance content exceeded the norm by 3.2 times (0.79 percent), Kustone Quiet Q7's by 4.4 times (1.1 percent), Ovation VI—682's by 5 times (1.26 percent), Sunfull SF-688's by 5.2 times (1.31 percent), Mirage's MR-162 — 7.5 times (1.88 percent), Hifly HF201 — 7.7 times (1.93 percent).
The source of danger is cheap highly aromatic oils, which are used to reduce the cost of tire production. They are released into the environment along with microparticles of tire wear. The recycling of such tires, which can be used to create a playground surface or an additive to asphalt, also creates risks.
Starting from January 1, 2026, Russia is going to make changes to the environmental collection system for car tires. Its rate will depend on the carcinogenicity index of a particular tire. Experts expect that as a result of the innovations, the tax on tires with high levels of harmful substances will increase at least twice.
