OREANDA-NEWS The updated national standard GB 18580-2025 "Maximum permissible level of formaldehyde release in wood slabs and products made from them for interior decoration" will enter into force in China from June 2026, this regulation, approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People's Republic of China, will significantly increase the safety of materials used for interior decoration, according to the Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF Group).

"The Russian Export Center (VEB Group) calls on all interested exporters to study the updated rules in advance in order to ensure continuity of supplies and strengthen their positions in one of the world's largest markets," the statement said.

According to the draft document, the new standard sets two limits for formaldehyde emissions of 0.05 milligrams per cubic meter or less: for coated wood slabs and products made from them (laminate and other types of floor coverings, various coated wood slabs, doors, and other similar materials and products).
